Carraig Gheal Wind Farm exhibitions and trade morning
[January 10th 2005]
Alloa-based company GreenPower have announced that they have submitted the planning application for Carraig Gheal Wind Farm, a 24 turbine, 72MW wind farm to the west of Kilchrenan, in Argyllshire, and will exhibit final proposals on 25 th -26 th January.
As well as presenting the final plans as submitted to the Scottish Executive, GreenPower will be inviting local businesses and traders who might be interested in working on Carraig Gheal and other wind farms to come to Portsonochan on Wednesday morning to register their interest and talk with GreenPower staff. The hall will be for trade only between 10.00-11.00am on Wednesday 26 th January.
Dr Mark Evans, GreenPower's Project Manager with specific responsibility for Carraig Gheal, said: “ GreenPower invites local companies to attend our exhibitions to explore possible ways of working with us on the Carraig Gheal project. We are keen to meet businesses that could provide services from fencing to catering and security to major earth moving as well as general building trades. We will be staging a full, free trade seminar in the next 2-3 months which will go into more detail regarding these opportunities and as a precursor to this we would like interested companies to come and register for the seminar on the 26 th “and talk to us generally about the work they could provide. Of course attendance at the seminar will help companies better prepare to tender for work in the wind energy sector as a whole, not just on GreenPower projects”. GreenPower has held successful Trade Seminars in 2004 in both Perthshire and the Borders, with over 100 companies already registered to provide services and tender for work.
As well as the interest for companies, Dr Evans said that GreenPower were still keen to get feedback from the public. “We had a terrific response from the public in our pre-application exhibition in September, and just because we've submitted now doesn't mean that public feedback is no use. The development process is a dialogue up to and beyond the moment a planning decision is made, and these exhibitions are an excellent way of moving that dialogue forward”. GreenPower will be at Kilchrenan Village Hall on Jan 25 th , 11.00am - 20.00pm and Portsonochan Hall on Jan 26 th , 10.00 - 11.00am (trade only) and 11.00am - 20.00pm (public).
