About GreenPower - the Company

GreenPower is an independent Scottish company, based in Alloa, Central Scotland. Formed in 2000 it is now one of the leading independent renewable energy developers in the UK, with a current portfolio of projects in development amounting to over 400 MW capacity. These projects include both hydro developments (between 100 kilo Watts and 2 Mega Watts) and wind (single turbines of 1 MW plus to multi turbine developments.)

As GreenPower has seen its projects come to fruition employee numbers have now risen to 20 to meet the demand for greater capacity and breadth of specialisms. This means that we can now handle the great majority of our project activities in house, allowing us to progress our projects more quickly and efficiently.

Company Ethos

As a company we share a desire to develop in a responsible way, fully embracing environmental good practice. We seek to minimise environmental impacts and, wherever possible, seek to offset these. We were delighted when, following the consent of our Griffin wind farm in Perthshire, the RSPB issued the following public statement :-

“This is really good news for Scotland and should be recognised as a great example of a large wind farm, sensibly located away from designated sites, where the developer has worked hard to not only minimise environmental impacts but has in fact sought to actively improve the surrounding area for some species.”
