GreenPower Sponsors Best Community Initiative at Green Energy Awards

Greenpower sponspored the Best Community Initiative at the Green Energy Awards, hosted in Edinburgh on the 2nd December 2004. At the exceptionally successful and well organised event Rob Forrest, Chief Executive of GreenPower said " We are proud to sponsor the Best Community Initiative at the Green Energy Awards. We consider that involvement of the community is key to the success of renewable energy projects".
The judges were particularly impressed by Cumbernauld Primary School’s Energy Kids project and awarded them with a special commendation. Dundee Sun City, which is looking to establish renewable energy as a mainstream energy source, and Energy4All, which helps community groups negotiate for a share in wind farm projects or set up their own, were also shortlisted. The eventual winner was Wick District Heating Scheme Co-operative which will use waste heat from the Pulteney Distillery to warm 600 nearby households. The Judges praised all the projects shortlisted and said that "It was very difficult to choose between them as thay all had specific merits". |
