GreenPower Enters Griffin Joint Venture

[19th February 2009]

GreenPower is pleased to announce that it has entered into a Joint Venture Agreement with Airtricity, part of Scottish & Southern Energy plc, the Perth based energy utility, to construct and operate Griffin Wind Farm. The Joint Venture brings together GreenPower’s dedicated development team, which has been involved in the Griffin project for more than five years, and the construction and operational expertise of Airtricity/SSE.

The development received planning consent from the Scottish Ministers in January 2008. It will have up to 68 turbines and a total net capacity in the range of 130MW-200MW (depending on the most economic wind turbine option). Construction work is expected to begin later this year with the wind farm due to be completed in 2010/11.

Robert Forrest, Chief Executive of GreenPower, commented “We are delighted to be working with Airtricity/SSE to bring the Griffin Wind Farm, one of the largest wind farms in the UK, into operation. Achieving planning consent for Griffin was a huge milestone for GreenPower as a company. This Joint Venture agreement gives us the ability to continue to work on one of the most ambitious renewable energy projects in the UK and also brings a major capital injection which will greatly assist development of our growing pipeline of new projects.”
