Potential Contracts for Local Businesses at Griffin Wind Farm
[June 16th 2004]
A Trade Seminar held recently by GreenPower, for the Griffin Wind Farm proposal at Birnam Institute has received significant interest from local and Scottish contractors. A spokesman for GreenPower, Dr Mark Evans, said that the meetings were held so that GreenPower could "hit the ground running" with using local companies for all aspects of construction and site services if planning permission was successful. "We received a lot of interest from companies when we held our trade morning in December [at Aberfeldy Town Hall] and we thought the best way to follow up would be to advise those who might be interested in tendering on how to go about it", said Dr Evans.
Presentations were given by Rob Forrest, Chief Executive of GreenPower, Karyn Watt, partner in construction law firm Anderson Strathern WS, Nigel Crowe from GE Wind Energy and Dominic Farrugia of Alfred McAlpine plc. Andrew McCaig of Viaflex, a new company providing on-site terrain solutions, considered the day a success. "In terms of helping with knowledge of the tendering process I found the day extremely helpful. Particulary as a young company just coming out of the development stage, gaining a better understanding of things like this can be critical".
