Trade OpportunitiesWind farms bring excellent opportunites for local businesses. The skills present in the local area can be employed during the construction, operation and decommissioning of a wind farm, producing a direct positive effect to the local economy.
An opportunity presently exists as GreenPower and Highlands and Islands Enterprise recently announced ‘Working With Wind', a trade seminar to take place in Oban on the 16 th May.
GreenPower is committed to using local contractors and services where possible to maximise the benefits to the local community. If your company offers any goods or services that you feel may be able to contribute we would be like to hear from you. Does your business offer any of the following:
GreenPower organises trade events for each of its renewable energy developments. This gives an opportunity for local businesses to find out more about the developments and the products and services required during the construction or operation of the development.
Several trade events have taken place in relation to Griffin Wind Farm, for example. Meetings held recently by GreenPower at the Birnam Institute received significant interest from a large number of local and Scottish contractors...more. While this meeting was primarily intended to foster interest in tendering for contracts on the Griffin project, the popularity of the event caused us to recognise a great opportunity for better preparing businesses and traders in areas where renewable development is happening.
In addition to our Griffin trade activity we organised a trade event relating to our Broadmeadows Wind Farm development in the Borders. In association with Scottish Enterprise Borders, GreenPower hosted a Trade Seminar, “Supplying the Wind Energy Sector”, at the Tweed Horizons business centre in Newton St Boswell on the 29th October 2005.
GreenPower are also working in conjuntion with Tayside Enterprise with the aim of encouraging local businesses to gain benefit from the many opportunities that GreenPower and the renewable industry is generating.
We are currently promoting trade opportunities in relation to our Carraig Gheal Wind Farm project. Initially a trade morning was organised for the 26th January 2004 and this is to be followed by a full day trade event during February/March 2005.
